The march was preceeded by a public meeting outside St Andrews Cathedral, George St, Town Hall, at which Chinese-Australian, Vietnamese-Australian and Australian speakers talked about why they supported the Falun Dafa movement in its struggle for the right to liberty in Communist China. Falun Dafa practitioners are jailed, tortured, sometimes executed and sometimes used for organ harvesting in the misnamed "Peoples" Republic of China. Speakers included representatives of the Liberal Party, Greens Party, Vietnamese community radio and Councillor Nanh Tran (Independent) from Fairfield City Council, himself a refugee from the Communist Government of Vietnam.
